As co-founder and Secretary-Treasurer of the LGBTQ Corporate Directors Canada Association, I was honoured to be invited by the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) to ring the closing bell of the market on July 9th, 2022.

Myself, the President of the group Jane Griffith, and members of the Advisory Board and management were joined by TSX management, representatives of the Institute of Corporate Directors, the Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Capgemini, and other special guests. You can view a short video of the ceremony HERE.
The event was followed by a dinner at the National Club hosted by the President of Capgemini Canada. Those in attendance included seasoned corporate Board members, board-ready LGBTQ+ individuals, and representatives of the Association. The group discussed strategy to advance corporate board diversity in Canada through an LGBTQ+ lens.
These events will ensure the elevation of discussion on the lack of LGBTQ+ representation on Canada’s corporate boards. Our independent research report released by Professor Sarah Kaplan of the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, revealed that only 0.15% of the Board members of Canada’s public companies disclosed being a member of the LGBTQ+ community between 2017 and 2022.
