Rang the Closing Bell on the Toronto Stock Exchange with LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors Canada Association

I was thrilled to have been part of the team at LGBTQ Corporate Directors Canada to ring the closing bell of the Toronto Stock Exchange on May 13th, 2025.

Starting with the TSX, some of the largest stock exchanges across the globe are joining forces for the first-ever ‘Ring the Bell for hashtag#LGBTIQ+ Equality’ – a landmark initiative affirming the rights and dignity of LGBTIQ+ individuals in markets and workplaces alike.

After Toronto, exchanges including London Stock Exchange, Australian Stock Exchange Pty Limited, Mexico Stock Exchange | WorldSE, Euronext, Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Cboe Global Markets, Singapore Stock Exchange | WorldSE, and many more will dedicate their opening or closing bell ceremonies over the next week to the effort. Organized by the United Nations Global Compact, United Nations Human Rights, United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, and Koppa – The LGBTI+ Economic Power Lab, this initiative mirrors the success of the ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ and aims to become an annual fixture.

As Koppa – The LGBTI+ Economic Power Lab states: ‘The participation of international stock exchanges sends a powerful message: the private sector has both a responsibility and an opportunity to advance LGBTQI+ rights. At Koppa, we believe equality is not just a value – it’s an investment in shared prosperity.’

A big thank you to Ernst & Young, including Lindsay Swanson, Darrell Jensen, Terri McDowell, Neil Pengelly, and others in hosting the group for dinner conversation after the ceremony!

Many thanks to Jane Griffith, ICD.D, Fabrice C Houdart, Mark Baxter, BEc, FIAA, FGIA, and the many others who made this global event happen.
