LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors Canada Association was profiled by the Institute of Corporate Directors in their June Director Lense publication. Association President Jane Griffith, ICD.D and Secretary Mark Bonham reported on the status of diversity efforts on public boards of Canadian-listed companies.
The article references the commissioned report by Professor Sarah Kaplan of the Institute for Gender and the Economy at the University of Toronto which revealed that only 7 individuals of 9,400 corporate board directors sitting from 2015 to 2022 identified as LGBTQ+.
Bonham noted the opportunity for Canadian companies to endorse corporate diversity. This will allow them to gain a competitive advantage and add significant value to the economy through greater profits and greater revenues, greater employee satisfaction, client satisfaction, and so forth.
