Co-Chairing the London School of Economics Canadian Scholarship Fund

I am excited to be Co-Chairing, with Ken Rotman and Jonathan Pollack, the $10 million London School of Economics (LSE) Canadian Scholarship Fund. LSE has a deep connection with Canada for many years with over 4,000 alumni in government, banking, healthcare, philanthropy, and more. In 2024, LSE welcomed 180 students from Canada = 26 undergraduate and 154 graduate students.

However, the numbers are falling due to the financial burden of studying overseas. This campaign intends to reverse that trend. The scholarships being created will support postgraduate students each year with full scholarship covering fees and living costs.

Founding Members of the campaign raised $3 million prior to the public announcement!

Founding Members
James Appleyard, Mark S. Bonham, Andre Bourbonnais, Lev Bukhman, Ann Mette de Place Filippini, Jonathan Fitzgerald, John Grant, Frank Lochan, Vaughn MacLellan, The Honourable Bill Morneau, Jonahtan Pollack, Lawrence Ritchie, Ken Rotman, Jordan Sarick, Stephen J. R. Smith

It was terrific to publicly announce the launch of the Fund to over 130 LSE alumni at a holiday reception at the Toronto Club. We were joined by the new President of the LSE, Larry Kramer. The 15 Founding Members enjoyed a dinner after the reception to celebrate the launch of this historic project and move it forward.

As a graduate of the LSE, I am truly honoured to be working on this. Education is such an important ingredient to our country’s past, present, and future success. With today’s global challenges, we need superb Canadians to navigate our way forward. Scholarships provide a means to this end.

We welcome your participation in this project. Read more and participate HERE.
