The Queer & Transgender Research Lab (QTRL) at the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto has opened applications for two 2024-2025 Fellowships: the Artist-in-Residence, and the Community Leadership Residencies.
The Artist-in-Residence is provided financial and other material support for applicants working in any medium (photography, sculpture, visual art, media arts, theatre, poetry, playwriting, fiction, etc.), whose work centres on LGBTQ2S+ lives, communities, histories, and cultures. The residency will culminate in a funded exhibition, reading, screening, or performance of the resident’s work-in-progress. The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $20,000. Deadline for applications is April 12th, 2024. Full details and application form can be found HERE.
Community Leadership Residencies are provided 1-2 year-long residencies to community leaders and activists working on social and political problems affecting LGBTQ2S+ and BIPOC lives and communities. The residents will work on a project of their choice that addresses social inequality in LGBTQ2S+ QTBIPOC communities. This can be a project they are already working on in their communities. Successful applicants will also actively participate in a variety of events, such as presentations, class visits, workshops, panels, and meetings at the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies. Community Leaders in Residence will receive a stipend of $15,000. In addition, the Bonham Centre will provide up to $5,000 in support for project resources, subject to university policies and guidelines. Deadline for applications is April 5, 2024. Full details and application form can be found HERE.
