I was very saddened to hear that comedian and broadcaster Candy Palmater, a recipient of a 2017 Bonham Centre Award, has passed away at the young age of 53. We have lost a tremendous individual and community member.

Candy is well known as a stand-up comedian on several shows on CBC and the APTN network. She co-hosted the CTV afternoon talk show The Social and was a frequent contributor to CBC Radio, including hosting her own series in 2016, guest-hosting daily arts program q, and as a guest panelist on comedy quiz show Because News. I look forward to her autobiography Running Down a Dream: A Love Story to My Family being released in 2022.
She was definitely one-of-a-kind, and I offer my sincere condolences to her partner Denise Tompkins.
