Toronto Botanical Garden $52 million Expansion Approved by Toronto City Council

As Chair of the Board of Directors, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Toronto City Council just approved the Toronto Botanical Garden’s plan for its $52 million expansion.  This project has been in the planning stages for the past three years.  It can now move to the more detailed design and building phase.  The TBG’s goal is to create a world-class botanical garden for all residents of the City, the province and the country to be proud of.

The project involves incorporating the existing TBG with the adjacent 35-acre Edwards Garden, located in the Eglinton/Lawrence cultural corridor of the city.  Conceptual plans include many new structural facilities, including a garden bridge across the ravine to connect the east and west components of the property.

Congratulations to the Board, TBG staff, City staff, the consultants, and all others involved to make this project a reality.  There is lots more work to be done, but we are well on our way.

You can view the specific plan proposal HERE.
